Financial Accountant

As a Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in the Australian Finance Accounting & Compliance team supporting the Financial Controller and Senior Financial Accountant in providing commercial support to key stakeholders and ensuring robust financial governance across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and review of monthly management accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries and complete general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Manage the maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register.
- Lead the preparation and completion of monthly office bank reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations including GST, Australian Bureau of Statistics and Payment Times Reporting.
- Support the Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) process including data collection, analysis and reconciliation.
- Support the external audit by providing detailed and accurate workpapers.
- Provide commercial support to key stakeholders including coding and transaction support to ensure compliance with local and international finance policies.
- Prepare and distribute accurate and insightful financial reports as required by stakeholders.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations and reporting.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and 1-2+ years' experience in a similar role within a legal or professional service environment
- Part-qualified or qualified CPA or CA will be preferable.
- Advanced Excel and large data management skills are desirable.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with internal stakeholders and clients with a strong customer focus.
- High attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a virtual team.
